Remembering Bob Gray

BOB GRAY TRIBUTE    1945-2008

Remembered by many past and present members of the Woodcraft Folk, family and friends. Famous for his camp porridge.

Bob was involved with the Woodcraft Folk most of his life, he was a local lad who joined woody as a young teenager. Woodcraft was big part of his life, becoming a group leader when Silver Birch and Arkela retired. His love of people and the principals of woody motivated him.

Always supporting good causes, walking 26 miles to Staines in aid of BAN THE BOMB. He was an enthusiastic, friendly, caring member of the community. A keen camper, teaching children folklore and traditional Woodcraft skills. You had to pitch your tent correctly.

He is widely loved and remembered by a large number of friends, family, ex-woody and present members.  A truly great guy!

Barn Dance in Bob’s Honour

Saturday 15th November 2008 saw the first Barn Dance in memory of Bob raising funds for the Duchess of Kent Trust.  All had a superb evening, many old Woodcrafters called for this to become an annual event, so watch this space!

Linda Gray and the Barn Dance organisers proudly hand over a cheque for a staggering £1134.00 to the Duchess of Kent Trust.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
